Reflection 3

I believe that a book is a tool for a person to express there ideas. Weather you are telling a story from you imagination or a true story that you have experienced in your life. It's a way of letting others know you perspective and views on issues and life. I think that the point of a book is to entertain or inform. Books can come in all forms weather it's an ebook, or a real paper book what's important is the ideas being expressed and the people reading it. A book is a place where you as let people see inside you deepest thoughts, it's a was to get others to understand your perspective I think anyone and everyone can write a book as long as you have ideas you can write a book. A book is also a great tool to use to get inspired such as people reading book and getting inspired to make movies. Books can also help you change you life if you read a self help/inspirational book it may help you learn things about your self and help change your life for the better. In my view a book is a needed tool to get your ideas around and this is a way to teach others from your perspective. A book to me is like giving a speech, or resiteing a poem, just written down and the reader will have move room to imagine events for them selves.

Reflection #7

When I comes to people lying about events in non- fiction books I am fine with it but don't call the work a true story memoir. If you claim it's factual and it's not that is dishonest to the reader. When you pick up a book in the non-fiction section you are expecting a real story of someone's expirences. If the info is made up then it seems pointless to even read so called true story's if they really aren't true. If you are reading a book to learn about someone's real expirences and its not factual information they your are just reading a fiction not a true event story. On the other hand I'm fine with small exaggerations in certain places in the story, such as conversations, and when and where events took place. This may make a lot more interesting story but my problem is when you claim a true story but you have made up whole events and characters. If you as an author are going to lie about your story then I think you should just make your story fiction this way your readers wouldn't be lied to. Also if you know there are flat out lies in your book you can put a small warning such as "some events aren't true" this would help readers understand not to take you story as complete fact.

Top 5 Books

Fight Club

This book is about a man struggling with everyday life, stuggling about what to do with himself and how to live. To get him through this he invents a split personatily that is more bold and can do all the things he can. This leads to forming together a group of men who have anti-societial views and spend time causing havoc in he city such as destroying art and blowing up bulidings. The narrator really doesnt want to be apart of these activites and has conflict with his other side. I liked this book becasue it was fast-paced and had a very exiting story. I like how it made you think about how some stressed out and confused people and get in life. I love how you were getting two main characters perspectives from one book alone.

Of Mice and Men

This book is about two men trying to fulfill there dreams of one day owning there own farm. The two characters are Lenny and George, Lenny is large man but he has a mental disabilty. Lenny is very kind and caring but the has a tendency to squeze things the likes too hard and harm them. George one the other hand is pretty intelengent and is always the one controling the actions Lenny. The reason I like this book so much is because it is very simple but has many deeper meanings such a friendship, and understanding. I love how they contrasted the characters one is large and less smart, the other is small but has the intelengence. The books ending was very sad but I felt that the way it ended made you gain a deeper connection with the charceters by feeling sad for them, also this helps you understand how much Geroge cares for Lenny.

The Catcher and the Rye

This book is about a very stubbon, and some what of a rebel going through life at school and after he leaves school. The reason i like this book was at times Holden seemed relatiable because sometimes I go through stress because of school or life. Also the feeling of giving up and doing what ever you want in times of trouble sometimes I feel that everyone at times go through these times of fustration with life. This book seemed to show the changes people go through as a teen you start off one way and for certin diffrent reason you may endup changing in some ways.

Harry Potter

This is a book about a young wizard whos parents got killed when he was young, this is the first book in the series it goes through this first year of wizard school and all the adventures, and new expirences harry and his friends go through. This book has a speical place in my memory becusae it was the first long novel that I have ever read and I loved it. Im not really a big Harry Potter fan but I love this book because it show magical powers which is always intresting. These kids also learned alot about good over evil, friendship, and how to protect others this book helped me in some ways by teaching me moral lessons. The best thing about the book though is the story it was an amazing adventure to read it went through a whole year of adventures and action.

Proj 2

This book storyline revloved around a mental institue; the actions, antics, and conversations. The characters are patients at the institue they all have diffrent personalities and ideas one life. The books main characters are The Chief(the narrator) and McMurphy. McMurphy becomes the leader of there group because the is the boldest and braves one in the mental hospital. Mcmurphy is the newest patient in the mental instation and he is there for statutory rape. He has pretended to be insane in order to get out of prison time. So Murphy isn't really insane he is just pretending because he doesn't want to do jail time. The narrator chief is 6 feet 7 seven inches tall he seems to pretend to be deaf and incapable of speech, he looks to be doing this because he wants to be left alone and tries to go unnoticed. Due to his shyness he his at times taken advantage of by the orderlies and nurses, they at times make fun of him, boss him around, and at times force him to clean the area.

The plot of the book mostly revolves around the characters rebelling and standing up to the main villain of the nurse. Early McMurphy organized a form of protest instead of doing work and cleaning the men following Murphys lead all decided to group together in order to watch the blank tv screen. I feel that this was just a way for the men to show they aren't afraid to disobey authority, and choose to live there life the way they choose. There is a section in book where Mcmurphy looses his courage when he realizes that the nurse is the one that controls when he Is allowed to leave, also the nurse has the ability to make him go to electroshock therapy. Murphy gains back his courage after he starts to understand he is looked up to and view as a leader by the other men. Soon after Mcmurphy then organizes a fishing trip with the other men in order to relieve the stress of the life in the ward. This seems to help him regain his confidence and calm down from the stress he was under the nurse.

After this McMurphy starts to cause a string of trouble by getting into fights  with the workers, he brings weed and alcohol into the ward, he also fights with nurse Ratched, and he also let a prostitue because of all theses issues McMurphy had to deal with penalties. The penalty he faces is he is to be lombotized after the event he becomes a vegetable and the Bromden ends up killing him to remove his pain, before breaking out himself. In the end it seems as thought that Nurse Ratched has lost all of her power and the men look to be free, many of them end up leaving.

I recomend this book to people that like unique story's with unique characters and settings. This book had everything I would ever want in a book it had some humor, and moments of intese drama and action. The characters are well portrayed and depicted. I like the fact that the book didn't have a ton on unessary discriptions of characters and places. The book made you think what it's like to be mentally ill and how the strict, difficult the life's of these people can be. This book had a underlying message of living your life the way out want to, and standing up to those above you if they are wrong. Overall I think this was a very well written and this book also had a very good story line that felt very real to me.
