Book Review
The book Fight
Club is a high energy, erratic and creatively written book. This book makes
you experience lot of different feelings and emotions, makes you
think a lot about what is going to happen next. Our story starts out with
an unnamed narrator in the present time and he has a gun to his head. Then
the story jumps back in time and he starts the describe the situations that
lead to the current predicament he is in. He intrudes himself as a recall
specialist for a car company, he hates his job, the hates the consumer culture
we live in. Then his life starts to change when he meets Tyler Durden
a rebellious anti pop culture character he lives his life not by what
people tell him to do but based on what he chooses to do. Tyler is
portrayed as a funny, charismatic character but he does have a dark side
he seems to stop at nothing to achieve his goal of making the world
less reliant on martial things and to destroy the current way society
is. Together these two man form an underground fight club where other men that
are angry and frustrated with the way there life’s are going. Fight club
becomes a place where men that are in pain in some way can go to fight with
others and relieve the stress though fighting with others with the same
feelings. Fight club starts to spread and there become many different underground
fight clubs opening up a lot of different cities in the country, all under the
control of Tyler. Tyler then uses the men to cause havoc and destruction all
across the country. The brings down buildings and other establishments in other
to show the groups distain from society. The story climaxes when Tyler wants to
blow up a very large building and the unnamed narrator doesn’t want to do it.
This is where to two characters confront each other this leads up to where the
story stared with the gun in the unnamed narrators mouth.
This book is was amazing I really liked it, the characters and the
story went really well together. I recommend this to anyone that like more
twisted and dark books. This is good for someone that was to read a story that’s
not from the perspective of some good guy but instead from the perspective of
someone deranged and lost. This book was very entraining it, showed a lot of
creativity from the author the dark humor in the book was also great. My
favorite part of the book was the twist ending that really made you analyze the
text as a whole to see if you missed something.
Solid job of re-capping the key events and perspectives. I like your commentary in the closing paragraph; you're right about the dark humor and how the author wants us to re-analyze things. As you do your projects, keep working to interact with specifics from the books--scenes, actions, quotes, events.
